FC Samartex coach Christopher Ennin has blamed a costly mistake for his side’s 1-0 loss to Hearts of Oak.

The Timber Giants fell to the Phobians on Friday at the University of Ghana Stadium, with Hamza Issah netting the decisive goal.

Speaking after the match, Ennin expressed frustration with his team’s overall performance, noting shortcomings in both defense and attack.

“It’s an error that gave them the goal because we conceded, and then it changed the entire game plan,” Ennin said.

“I think it’s something we still need to work on. The finishing aspect is also lacking. They are still young, we are building them, so I think we’ll get there.”

Ennin also highlighted the impact of an early save by Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Solomon Agbasi, which he said prevented the game from taking a different turn.

“It was a really fantastic save because that would have changed the game altogether. It was within two minutes when we got that opportunity. So I think it’s something that really affected us.”

The loss leaves FC Samartex in sixth place with 24 points. They will resume action in the New Year with a home fixture against Young Apostles in Matchday 17.
