The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has taken into custody two individuals in connection with an alleged arson incident at Oyarifa Anointed Down in the Greater Accra Region.
In a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, the Police identified the suspects as a Canadian national, Jennifer Mae Tomlinson, and her Ghanaian partner, Mohammed Issah.
According to the statement, initial investigations indicate that the fire was intentionally set by the suspects, who were occupying the apartment as tenants at the time of the incident.

“Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects, who were tenants occupying the apartment, deliberately set the property ablaze on December 23, completely destroying it without any apparent provocation,” the Police explained.
Details provided by the Command show that Mohammed Issah was arrested by officers from the Ayimensah Abokobi Police Station on the same day the incident occurred.
His partner, Jennifer Mae Tomlinson, reportedly went into hiding but was later tracked down and arrested on December 25.

The Police noted that both suspects are currently being held to assist with ongoing investigations.
“Both suspects are currently in police custody assisting investigations, and they will be put before the court to face charges in accordance with the law,” the statement added.
The Command assured the public of its commitment to thoroughly investigate the matter and ensure that anyone found culpable is dealt with in line with Ghana’s laws.
