The Bono East Regional Police Command has restored calm in Kwame Danso, Sene West District, following a violent mob attack on the District Court and the District Police Headquarters on Wednesday, December 10.

According to a police statement, the incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. when about 100 irate youths besieged the court during ongoing proceedings. The group attacked court officials, vandalised furniture, fans, and other items, and forcibly freed two accused persons who were standing trial. The complainant in the case was also assaulted.

The mob later stormed the Kwame Danso Police Headquarters, attacking two officers on duty and causing further damage to the station.

A reinforcement team from the Atebubu Division, supported by the Formed Police Units, was deployed to restore order.

Following directives from the Inspector-General of Police, the Kwame Danso Police Station and District Police Headquarters have been temporarily closed, with personnel reassigned to other parts of the region.

The police command said it is pursuing all individuals involved in the attack and assured the public that the perpetrators will be identified, arrested, and prosecuted.
