The Minority Caucus in Parliament has insisted that the Member of Parliament for Kpandai remains the duly elected and legitimate representative of the constituency despite a recent High Court ruling ordering a re-run of the 2024 parliamentary election.
According to the Minority, nothing will hinder the MP’s work in the House until all legal processes, including a possible appeal, are fully exhausted.
They argue that the Tamale High Court’s decision, delivered by Justice Emmanuel Part-Plange Brew, carries serious implications for Ghana’s democratic governance.
The ruling followed a petition challenging results from 41 polling stations in the 2024 parliamentary election, which declared Mathew Nyindam as MP. The judge subsequently ordered that the entire constituency election be conducted again.
Reacting to the decision, the Minority described the ruling as “judicial recklessness” and accused the court of attempting to support one side of the political divide.
They further vowed to resist any move to remove their member from Parliament through what they called “undue and unlawful processes.”
