The late Salormey Afishata Ama Mahama, mother of Dr Callistus Mahama, Executive Secretary to President John Mahama, has been laid to rest.
The burial ceremony, held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, in Salaga in the Savannah Region, drew a significant gathering of dignitaries, traditional rulers, and well-wishers.
Madam Salormey Mahama passed away on November 1, 2025.

The funeral was marked by a profound display of respect and solidarity as people from across the country came to pay their last respects.
Among the high-profile attendees were President John Mahama, Vice-President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, First Lady Lordina Mahama, and Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin.

The Chief Justice, Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, was also present alongside several eminent traditional leaders, including the Yagbonwura, the Yaa Naa, the Kpembewura, the Bolewura, the Buipewura, and the Bimbilla Naa.

Institutional representation was equally strong, with the Inspector General of Police, the Comptroller-General of the Ghana Immigration Service, heads of other security agencies, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, and chief executives of various state institutions in attendance.
Ministers of State, Members of Parliament, political party leaders, friends, colleagues, and relatives also joined in large numbers.

The funeral rites reflected both solemnity and a celebration of the life of Madam Mahama, as attendees offered prayers, condolences, and tributes in honour of her legacy and the impact she had on her family and community.

The Mahama family expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support and solidarity shown during the funeral, noting that the presence and comforting words of mourners brought immense strength during a difficult period.
