Ghana’s Black Stars have moved up one place to 72nd in the November 2025 FIFA World Rankings, though they remain 14th on the African continent despite recent setbacks.
The West African side suffered a 2-0 defeat to Japan and a 1-0 loss against South Korea during their Asian friendlies, part of their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
The slight rise in the rankings reflects the Black Stars’ overall positive trajectory, indicating progress even amid defeats. Ghana’s leap from 73rd to 72nd was aided by Georgia’s poor results in November. The European side failed to win, losing 4-0 to Spain and 2-1 to Bulgaria in World Cup qualifiers.
The ranking adjustment also considers the relative weight of matches, with Ghana playing friendlies while Georgia competed in higher-stakes qualifiers, affecting the points calculation.
With the World Cup draw set for December 5 in Washington, Otto Addo and his squad will hope for a favourable group as they continue preparations, regrouping in March 2026 to fine-tune their campaign for football’s biggest stage.
