Crystal Palace forward Eddie Nketiah has dismissed reports linking him to a potential switch to play for Ghana ahead of the 2026 World Cup, saying his focus remains firmly on club football.
Though Nketiah has featured for England at youth level, FIFA rules allow him to represent the Black Stars.
His possible inclusion, along with Nottingham Forest winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, has sparked discussions following Ghana’s World Cup qualification.
Speaking to BBC Sport Africa, Nketiah said: “At the moment, I’m just enjoying my football with Crystal Palace – that’s been my main focus.
“I’m Ghanaian and there’s no denying that. Obviously, I’m proud of my roots and where I’ve come from.
“I’m sure the future will take care of itself and what will be will be.”
FIFA’s 2020 eligibility rules permit players to switch national teams if they have played no more than three competitive senior matches before turning 21 and have not taken part in major tournaments such as the World Cup or Africa Cup of Nations.
