PFAG raises concern over Albert Amoah’s move to Libya

The Head of Player Relations at the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG), Yusif Chibsah, has expressed concern over Albert Amoah’s recent transfer to Libyan side Al Ahli Benghazi.

Amoah completed the move shortly after Asante Kotoko’s 5–1 defeat to Wydad Athletic Club in the second leg of their CAF Confederation Cup tie, a timing that surprised both the club’s fans and followers of Ghanaian football.

Speaking to Sporty FM, Chibsah, a former Black Stars midfielder, cautioned that many Ghanaian players moving to North African clubs often do so at a stage that may hinder their development.

“Most players who move to North Africa do so at the wrong time, and that is why they struggle,” he said. “I wish Albert Amoah well, but it will be difficult.”

Amoah, who joined Kotoko from Great Olympics last season, quickly became one of the team’s standout performers. He played 30 matches, scoring 16 goals, and emerged as a reliable forward for the club.

On the continental stage, he also impressed, netting twice in four CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round matches, although Kotoko was ultimately eliminated from the competition.
