Frank Lampard hails Brandon Thomas-Asante’s goalscoring form

Coventry City manager Frank Lampard has lauded Ghana forward Brandon Thomas-Asante for his outstanding form in front of goal this season.

Thomas-Asante continued his rich vein of form by netting twice in Coventry’s 2-1 victory over Portsmouth on Tuesday night, a result that stretched the Sky Blues’ lead at the top of the Championship table to four points.

“All credit to him because he works so hard,” Lampard said in the post-match interview.

“You move him around and nothing changes – he’s effective in the 10, on the sides, up front, his pressing is great.

“You can see his talent. He needs to keep going with that,” he added.

The 25-year-old striker has now scored eight goals and registered three assists this campaign, making him one of the most in-form players in the division.

He also became the first Ghanaian since Patrick Agyemang in 2017 to score seven or more goals in the first 11 games of a Championship season.

Thomas-Asante will look to maintain his scoring streak when Coventry host Watford at the Coventry Building Society Arena on Saturday.
