2026 WCQ: We are focused – Jordan Ayew ahead of Comoros game

Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has emphasised that the playing body will remain focused as they prepare for their final Group I match against Comoros.

The four-time African champions will host Comoros on Sunday, October 12, at the Accra Sports Stadium, aiming to cap their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign on a high note.

Ghana took a major step toward securing their place at the Mundial with a commanding 5-0 victory over the Central African Republic on Wednesday in Matchday 9, staged at Morocco’s Stade d’Honneur de Meknès.

Goals from Mohammed Salisu, Thomas Partey, Alexander Djiku, Jordan Ayew, and Kamaldeen Sulemana sealed the emphatic win.

Despite the dominant performance, Ayew insists the team is not getting carried away.

“Nothing changes for us. It’s still an important game, there’s something at stake, and that’s to win and finish the job,” Ayew told 3Sports.

“We don’t want to get carried away because we know there’s one more game. We want to finish hard, finish strong, and make sure we enjoy ourselves on the pitch while making the fans proud. I hope they come to celebrate with us,” he added.

Kick-off for the decisive game is set for 19:00 GMT.
