Newly Posted Teachers protest over 13-month unpaid salaries

The Coalition of Unpaid Newly Posted Teachers, comprising graduates from Colleges of Education and universities, staged a protest in Accra to demand the payment of long-overdue salary arrears.

The group says some of its members have gone without pay for up to 13 months, despite being officially posted and actively teaching across the country.

The demonstration began on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at the Obra Spot near Kwame Nkrumah Circle. The teachers marched towards the Jubilee House and the Ministry of Education before converging on the Ministry of Finance to press their demands.

According to the coalition, the protest aims to compel government agencies to urgently release their arrears and issue the staff ID cards needed to process their salaries.

Leaders of the group described the situation as unfair and demoralising, warning that they will continue their action until their concerns are fully addressed.
