Vice President enstooled as Gyaasehen of Komenda

The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has been enstooled as Gyaasehen of Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) during this year’s Nyeyi Afahye festival of Komenda.

She was honoured with the stool name Owoabrempong Kru-Kow I, a title bestowed by the Komenda Traditional Council to recognise her outstanding contributions to education, national development, and her steadfast commitment to leadership and service.

Speaking after her enstoolment, the Vice President expressed deep gratitude to Okatakyi Komeh VIII and the Traditional Council for the recognition, describing it as both ceremonial and deeply personal.

In her remarks, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang remarked that it is important to breed decency in Ghana’s political environment, calling for unity and collective action to advance the nation’s progress.

She further highlighted the completion of the Komenda Night Market, which she described as a project that provides traders with a dignified space to work and contributes to improving community livelihoods.

“I am humbled by this honour and extend my profound gratitude to the Komenda Traditional Council and the entire community for their warm welcome and support. Let us continue to stand together and support government efforts as we work to restore Ghana to the status we deserve,” she said.

The colourful enstoolment ceremony, which took place during the Nyeyi Afahye festival, was marked by cultural displays and communal celebrations, symbolizing the strong bond between the Vice President and the people of Komenda.
