Health Minister donates $1.5m equipment to Ga North Municipal Hospital

The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has presented medical equipment worth $1.5 million to the Ga North Municipal Hospital, reaffirming government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery across the country.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Mr. Akandoh explained that the donation followed an unannounced visit to the facility, where he observed that the hospital was struggling to operate without several critical resources.

The items, numbering over 30, include anaesthesia machines, incubators, ECG machines, nebulisers, sterilisers, hospital beds, delivery sets, ward screens, and other essential equipment.

Describing the gesture as a major capital investment, the Minister urged hospital authorities to ensure proper maintenance and efficient use of the machines.

“Health care delivery is built on three pillars: infrastructure, personnel, and equipment. It is not wise to allow existing facilities to deteriorate while we focus only on building new ones. These items are meant to boost the quality of care and must be preserved,” he stressed.
