Former Nsoatreman FC coach and Ghana international, Yaw Preko, has expressed confidence that the Black Stars have what it takes to secure victory against Chad in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana will resume their qualification campaign next month with back-to-back fixtures. The four-time African champions will travel to face Chad at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno on Thursday, September 4, before returning to host Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 8.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, Preko emphasized the importance of focus and proper preparation.
“We know what is at stake now, and if you look at our performance in our last games, the players should go into the games with that same determination,” he said.
He further noted that the match against Chad will not be straightforward due to the playing surface but remained optimistic.
“Playing against Chad will not be easy, but then we have to be vigilant and also get the right players for that game because we are playing on an astro turf, but then I strongly believe that we have what it takes to win against Chad,” Preko added.
The Black Stars currently lead Group I with 15 points from six matches, three points ahead of Comoros and five clear of Madagascar, as they chase a fifth FIFA World Cup appearance.
Coach Otto Addo and his squad are expected to open camp in Accra on Monday, September 1, ahead of the crucial qualifiers.
