Former Black Stars assistant coach George Boateng has been appointed as the new head coach of Belgian third-tier club RAEC Mons.
He has signed a three-year contract to replace Emilio Ferrera.
Boateng, a former Dutch international, had been without a club since leaving Coventry City in November 2024 following Frank Lampard’s appointment.
The 49-year-old, who holds a UEFA Pro License, brings extensive international experience, having served as an assistant coach for the Ghana national team during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
His tenure with the Black Stars ended after the Ghana Football Association (GFA) dissolved the entire senior national team technical staff following a disappointing campaign.
Boateng retired from professional football in 2013 after notable spells with Coventry City, Aston Villa, Middlesbrough, Hull City, and Nottingham Forest.
His coaching résumé also includes a stint as head coach of Malaysian side Kelantan and a role overseeing Aston Villa’s U-23 squad.
