A wreath-laying ceremony took place today, Thursday, August 7, at the Ceremonial Gardens of Jubilee House, as a tribute to the eight victims of the tragic military helicopter crash that has cast a shadow of sorrow over the country.
The ceremony formed part of a three-day national mourning period declared by the government to honour the memory of the deceased, which includes two senior government officials — Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed — as well as senior military personnel and party officials.
The ceremony drew a diverse crowd, including family members of the deceased, senior government officials, military personnel, and members of the public, all standing together in solemn solidarity amid shared sorrow.
The three-day mourning period will climax on Saturday, August 9, with an “Evening of Reflections and Memorials” at the Forecourt of the State House — a gathering anticipated to be steeped in remembrance and reverence.
