Goaso Municipal Hospital to conduct mass burial for 58 unclaimed bodies

-

The Goaso Municipal Hospital in the Ahafo Region has announced plans to conduct a mass burial for 58 unidentified and unclaimed bodies that have been in its morgue for between five and ten years.

Hospital Administrator Victor Atta Opoku told Adom News that the prolonged storage of these bodies has caused severe congestion in the mortuary, limiting the facility’s capacity to admit new cases and resulting in significant revenue loss.

He added that the continued preservation of the corpses has placed a financial burden on the hospital.

Mr. Opoku disclosed that the hospital has secured legal clearance from the Goaso Magistrate Court to proceed with the burial. A public announcement has also been issued, and if no relatives come forward within 21 days, the burial will take place.

The hospital has officially notified the Goaso Municipal Assembly, the traditional council, the Ghana Police Service, and the Regional Health Directorate ahead of the planned exercise.
