Asante Kotoko captain, Frederick Asare, has expressed hope that the club’s recent MTN FA Cup triumph will pave the way for more trophies in the future.
The Porcupine Warriors edged past lower-tier side Golden Kick in a hard-fought encounter at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Sunday to clinch their 10th FA Cup title.
An elated Asare, who celebrated his first piece of silverware with Kotoko, described the moment as special.
“This is my first time winning a trophy for Kotoko. It’s been six years since we last lifted [the FA Cup], so this is a special day,” Asare said.
“We’re grateful to our supporters for coming. We hope to do something even more special for them in the years ahead.”
The victory ends an eight-year drought in the competition for Kotoko and strengthens their position as the second-most successful side in FA Cup history, trailing only Hearts of Oak, who have 12 titles.
With the win, Kotoko have also secured a spot in the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup.
