Newly appointed Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz will be officially unveiled on Thursday, April 23, 2026, as Ghana begins a new chapter ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

The experienced Portuguese tactician takes over following the dismissal of Otto Addo last month, after Ghana suffered consecutive defeats to Austria and Germany in preparatory fixtures for the global tournament.

A former head coach of Egypt, Portugal and Colombia, Queiroz is tasked with leading the Black Stars into the World Cup scheduled for June and July across Canada, Mexico and the United States.

In a statement, the Ghana Football Association confirmed that Queiroz will address the media at 1:00 pm at the Alisa Hotel, where he is expected to outline his vision, technical philosophy, and immediate plans for the national team.

The unveiling will serve not only as a formal introduction to the Ghanaian public but also as an opportunity to set expectations for the World Cup campaign while fostering alignment between the technical team, the media, and supporters.

Queiroz is set to begin work immediately, with Ghana scheduled to play preparatory matches against Mexico and Wales on June 2 as part of their build-up to the tournament.

Ghana will compete in Group L at the World Cup, opening their campaign against Panama on June 17 before facing England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.

The veteran coach brings significant World Cup pedigree, having guided South Africa to qualification for the 2002 tournament, led Portugal to the knockout stage in 2010, and managed Iran at both the 2014 and 2018 editions.

His appointment is widely seen as a move to steady the Black Stars and revive their fortunes on the global stage following early exits in both 2014 and 2022.
