The Ghana Police Service has arrested two individuals in connection with the possession of a significant quantity of suspected narcotic substances at Ayi Mensah, located in the Greater Accra Region.
The suspects, identified as Mathew Narkotey and Augustine Teye, were apprehended on Friday, June 7, 2025, by a team from the National Operations Department (NOD) during a routine patrol operation.
The duo was traveling in a Mazda pick-up truck with registration number GT 3490-P when the police stopped them for inspection.
Upon conducting a thorough search of the vehicle, officers discovered eleven large compressed sacks of substances believed to be narcotics hidden in the cargo area of the truck.
The suspected contraband was immediately seized, and the vehicle was impounded for evidential processing.
Police say the suspected narcotic substances and the vehicle are currently being held securely at the Joint Operations Centre.
Both suspects have since been taken into custody and are assisting police with further investigations.
Preliminary interrogations revealed the name of another individual, identified only as Martey, who the suspects claim was the intended recipient of the consignment.
The police have launched a manhunt to locate and arrest Martey to assist in ongoing investigations.
