The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe, has urged for a closure on the recent discussions surrounding Sammy Gyamfi’s controversial dollar gift to former fetish priestess-turned-evangelist, Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, also known as Nana Agradaa.
This call comes in light of Gyamfi’s public apology.
He emphasized that Sammy Gyamfi, who is also the acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, has accepted full responsibility for his actions and encouraged the public to graciously accept his apology and focus on moving forward.
In recent days, Gyamfi has faced significant public scrutiny following a viral video depicting him presenting dollar notes to Nana Agradaa at a public event. The incident raised concerns about the perception of wealth, especially in the context of the nation’s current economic difficulties. In response to the widespread reaction, Gyamfi has publicly apologized, expressing regret and recognizing the moment as an oversight in judgment.
During an interview on Channel One TV, Mr. Tamakloe expressed that the apology was a prudent step forward and would ideally help resolve the matter.
“Graciously, my friend and brother, Sammy Gyamfi, less than 24 hours after this incident became public, thought it wise to apologize to the good people of this country and H.E. President John Dramani Mahama as well. I think that is the right thing to do,” Tamakloe said.
“He has apologized in his write-up, and I think that should bring finality to the matter. I believe that should suffice.”
Tamakloe emphasized that while the apology does not justify the behavior, it represents an acknowledgment of public concern and demonstrates a sincere sense of regret.
“Having apologized for the issue provides no justification whatsoever. I think that spirit, that remorseful spirit, should assuage whatever anger or sensibilities our people may have,” he added.
