Berekum Chelsea head coach Samuel Boadu has been formally charged with misconduct by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) following his team’s 1-0 loss to Asante Kotoko in the FA Cup semi-final held at TNA Park over the weekend.
In a statement issued by the GFA, the former Hearts of Oak boss is accused of breaching Article 12(1)(i) of the GFA Disciplinary Code (2019) and Article 34(6)(d) of the GFA Premier League Regulations (2019).
The charges stem from his alleged confrontational behaviour towards match officials at the end of the match.
“It is alleged that after the match, Coach Boadu approached the referees in an aggressive, angry, and fierce manner,” the statement said.
The FA Prosecutor further noted that Boadu used “inappropriate gestures” deemed to constitute misconduct and potentially tarnish the image of the game.
The incident is believed to have occurred moments after the final whistle, amid heightened tensions over some of the officiating decisions during the match.
The GFA emphasised that Boadu’s actions were “contrary to the principles of sportsmanship, respect for match officials, and the integrity of the game,” adding that such conduct threatens ongoing efforts to uphold discipline and respect within Ghanaian football.
Coach Boadu has until Thursday, May 15, 2025, to respond to the charges. If found guilty, he could face disciplinary actions ranging from a monetary fine to a touchline ban, or even a suspension from all football-related activities.
