Super Clash: Sports Minister cautions referees ahead of Hearts vs Kotoko

-

Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has urged match officials set to oversee the upcoming Super Clash between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko to maintain professionalism during the highly anticipated fixture.

The two top clubs in Ghana will face off at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, May 4, as part of Matchday 30 in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.

Ahead of the match, Minister Adams called on supporters to refrain from any actions that could lead to violence, stressing the importance of fairness from the officials.

“These are the two biggest football clubs in the country, but they have disappointed us. Let us hope that the wrongs will be corrected,” he told Asempa FM.

“We all know the history between these two clubs, but I urge their fans to stay away from any act of hooliganism.

“Let’s all go and enjoy the game, and I also urge the referee to be professional on the day. Hopefully, we will witness a good game on Sunday,” he added.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has appointed Jacob Aduntera as the centre referee, with Sulemana Salau Deen and Halilu Alhassan as his assistants. Maxwell Owusu will serve as the fourth official.

The clash is scheduled to kick off at 15:00 GMT.
