About five people have been rescued amid flooding and related incidents in the Adabraka–Odawna area of the Korle-Klottey Municipality.
The rescue operation, led by the Police Service’s Special Operations Team in collaboration with the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), is ongoing as personnel work to evacuate individuals still trapped in their homes.

The Korle-Klottey Municipal NADMO Director said the situation is overwhelming, but assured that efforts are underway to rescue all affected persons.
He also urged residents to remain calm and follow safety instructions as emergency teams continue their operations.

Heavy rains that began late on Sunday, June 28, and continued into the morning of Monday, June 29, 2026, triggered flooding in several parts of Accra, leaving major roads submerged, disrupting traffic flow, and stranding commuters.

Floodwaters were reported in low-lying areas and along key arterial roads, with vehicles moving slowly through submerged sections while some motorists were forced to abandon flooded routes.

The downpour, which lasted for several hours, significantly affected the Monday morning rush hour, leaving residents struggling to commute to work and school amid waterlogged streets and severe traffic congestion.
