Ghana midfielder Kwasi Sibo has expressed satisfaction with the Black Stars’ performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, saying the team demonstrated commitment and dedication in representing the country.
The 28-year-old was part of Ghana’s squad for the tournament in North America and featured in all the team’s matches. He emerged as one of the standout performers in Ghana’s goalless draw against England, delivering a disciplined midfield display as the Black Stars secured a valuable point against one of the tournament favourites.
Reflecting on the match, the Real Oviedo midfielder said playing in a defensive system required immense discipline, concentration and teamwork from the players to execute the tactical approach effectively.
“It takes much effort and sacrifice. Every player wants to touch the ball, and if you’re not touching the ball for some time, it affects your mentality. It takes great mental toughness, discipline, and dedication to defend from the first minute of a game to the final minutes,” Sibo told 3Sports.
He described the encounter against England as the best game he played at the World Cup, adding that it provided an opportunity for the team to prove its quality to both Ghanaians and the global football community.
“The England match is the best game I played at the World Cup,” he said.
“We showed Ghanaians that we are willing to give it our all for the nation,” he added.
Ghana’s World Cup campaign ended after the Black Stars were eliminated, and the team will now shift attention to preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which begin in September.
The four-time African champions have been drawn in Group C alongside Côte d’Ivoire, The Gambia and Somalia.
