Black Stars goalkeepers’ trainer Daniel Gasper has expressed confidence in Ghana’s goalkeepers ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup Group L clash against England on Tuesday.
Ghana began their World Cup campaign on a winning note with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Panama at the BMO Field in Toronto last week.
A late strike from Caleb Yirenkyi secured all three points for the four-time African champions.
During the match, first-choice goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi was substituted at halftime and replaced by Hearts of Oak shot-stopper Benjamin Asare.
However, Ati-Zigi has since returned to training and is expected to be available for selection against the Three Lions.
Speaking to the Ghana Football Association’s official website, Gasper revealed that the goalkeeping department, which also includes Joseph Anang, has been preparing thoroughly for the challenge posed by one of the world’s top teams.
“Obviously, England is one of the best teams in the world,” he said.
“They have certain characteristics and a style of play, and we’re exposing our goalkeepers to those conditions.
“We’re preparing them not only for the timing of catching and boxing, but also the physical challenge they’ll face.
“I have no doubt our goalkeepers are prepared for all the conditions against England,” Gasper added.
The Black Stars will be aiming to build on their opening victory when they face England, with kickoff scheduled for 20:00 GMT.
