President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Okraku, says he is optimistic about the Black Stars’ prospects at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting the squad carries the hunger and quality to make the nation proud.

Speaking at a farewell dinner for the team at the Hilton Alexandria Mark Centre on Wednesday, Okraku told members of the Ghanaian diaspora that he remains confident in the team’s ability to compete strongly in Group L.

He praised the squad’s talent and determination, saying their preparation has reinforced belief within the technical setup.

“I strongly believe in these players and, over time, they have proven that they have the quality, the talent, the hunger and the desire to make Ghana proud,” Mr Okraku said.

The Ghana national football team trained at American University before moving to Virginia to complete their final phase of preparations for the tournament.

Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia.

The Black Stars open their campaign against Panama at BMO Field on June 17, before facing England at Gillette Stadium on June 23. Their final group match comes against Croatia on June 27.

The squad has since arrived at its official base in Rhode Island as final preparations intensify ahead of their tournament opener.
