Ghana’s second edition of the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving is set to take place today, July 1, 2026, as declared by President John Dramani Mahama.
The annual event is designed to bring Ghanaians together in spiritual reflection, intercession and gratitude for the nation’s peace, stability and shared destiny.
The day will feature separate Christian and Muslim prayer sessions under the theme: “Resetting Our Values to Build the Ghana We Want.”
The Christian service is scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. at the forecourt of the State House, where President Mahama is expected to participate.
The Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, Eric Nyamekye, will serve as the special guest speaker, with several members of the clergy expected to be in attendance.
The Muslim prayer session is set for 12:30 p.m. at the National Mosque in Kanda and will be led by His Eminence Sheikh Dr Osman Nuhu Sharubutu.
The national observance serves as a symbol of unity, reflection and renewal, encouraging citizens to examine both their individual and collective journeys while recommitting to core national values of discipline, unity and hope.

The day is being marked across all 16 regions and 261 districts, uniting the country in a nationwide spiritual effort.
