Twelve of the 19 people who sustained injuries during the recent violent attack at New Winneba in the Effutu Municipality of the Central Region have been treated and discharged from hospital.
Seven others remain on admission and are receiving medical care, while three people have been confirmed dead following the incident.
Providing an update on the security situation in the affected communities, the Central Regional Police Commander, DCOP Ohene Boadi Bossman, said the Police Administration had intensified security operations to prevent further violence.
According to him, six security checkpoints have been established across the affected communities to monitor activities and protect residents.
DCOP Ohene Boadi Bossman also disclosed that six suspects were being prepared to face prosecution, while the police continued efforts to arrest other persons allegedly connected to the attack.
He urged residents to cooperate with the security agencies and provide relevant information that could assist investigations.
Meanwhile, the Central Regional Minister, Ekow Okyere Panin, has appealed to the parties involved in the conflict to exercise restraint and avoid retaliatory actions.
He cautioned residents against taking the law into their own hands, warning that further violence could worsen the situation and lead to additional loss of lives and property.
Authorities have assured residents that security measures will remain in place as investigations continue and efforts are made to restore lasting peace to the affected communities.
