The family of a nurse trainee, Vincent Amo Amponsah, is demanding answers after he was found dead at his residence in Kwadaso in the Ashanti Region under circumstances they describe as mysterious.
According to 3news, Vincent is believed to have died about three days before his body was discovered in the hall of his home.
Following preliminary police procedures, the body was released to the family on Saturday, July 18, and has since been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) Mortuary pending further investigations.
The cause of death remains unknown, and police have not made any arrests in connection with the incident.
Family members said a sponge was found tied around Vincent’s neck when his body was discovered, with his tongue reportedly protruding.
However, they have rejected suggestions that he may have taken his own life, arguing that there was no beam, hook, or any structure in the room that could have supported a hanging.
The family believes the circumstances surrounding his death may point to possible foul play.
Their suspicions were further raised by what they described as bloodstains on the walls of the hall where the body was found, leading to calls for a comprehensive forensic investigation.
Police have stated that the exact cause of death has not yet been established and that investigations are ongoing. Authorities are expected to rely on forensic and medical examination reports before drawing conclusions.
Two mobile phones belonging to the deceased were recovered from the scene. The devices, which were switched off at the time, have been taken into police custody for examination.
The family has also dismissed reports suggesting that Vincent was involved in the sale of mobile phones.
A relative explained that the phones belonged to Vincent’s brother, who lives abroad and had asked him to sell them on his behalf. The family insists the devices had already been sold before the incident and described claims that he was a phone dealer as false.
Relatives and residents of Kwadaso are calling on the police to conduct a thorough investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding Vincent Amo Amponsah’s death and ensure that anyone found responsible is brought to justice.
