Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah, has urged members of the Ghana Union Traders Association (GUTA) to be cautious of actions they take against foreign retailers.
According to Mr Ahenkorah, members of GUTA cannot sack any foreign retailer from Ghana, therefore, they cannot take the laws into their own hands as means of demanding their birthright.
“You cannot sack anybody from Ghana and even the President who has the right to sack foreigners won’t allow,” he said.
Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, the Deputy Minister urged GUTA to exercise restraint to prevent the attacks in South Africa which were replicated in Nigeria.
“We can’t just wake up one day to implement the laws but we have had stakeholders meeting and we are looking forward to addressing the issue,” he said.
