Nigerian songstress, Tiwa Savage, has reacted to xenophobic attacks on some Nigerians in South Africa by cancelling her show which was set to happen in Johannesburg this September 2019.
Reports of attacks by some South Africans on other nationals began a few days ago with businesses owned by foreigners being destroyed while videos of people being burnt alive inundated social media.
Nigerian entertainment industry players such as Mr Eazi, Banky W, Peter Okoye of Psquare fame and others have all, through their social media handles, expressed their displeasure against the gruesome acts.
Tiwa Savage, commenting on the situation, said, “I refuse to watch the barbaric butchering of my people in SA. This is SICK. For this reason I will NOT be performing at the upcoming DSTV delicious Festival in Johannesburg on the 21st of September. My prayers are with all the victims and families affected by this.”
Tiwa added that, she isn’t rooting for only Nigerians but Africans as a whole.
