Director of operations for 2016/2017 league champions Aduana Stars  has said winning the trophy the second time is a very great feat.
George Gyawu stated that, their performance is an encouragement especially to the players to do more.
“This is our second league title in 9 years and I can say this year’s one is an improvement given the points we amassed and the standard of play”, Mr. Gyawu noted in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ultimate sports show Thursday.
Aduana stars lifted the league title with 57 points after 30 rounds of matches and this Mr. Gyawu explains is an improvement from when they  last won it in the 2009/2010 season.
The team also won the G6 preseason tournament and the Premier league trophy to end the year with a double.
Based on this sterling performance, Mr. Gyawu is convinced the Ghana Premier league is vert competitive.
“Our league is very competitive contrary to what people say because we had stiffer oppositions in the season and they gave us good games”.
He also called on government to support league clubs with funding to match up to their counterparts on the African continent.
The Aduana Stars man maintained that Ghana Football Association (GFA) cannot improve the league alone.
“In other African countries, we see government providing financial support to their premier league clubs and we will want government to emulate that” he stressed.
George Gyewu added that just like government sponsors the National teams, “we plead they come aboard and help the Football Association raise much money to support the league. The Ghana Football Association cannot provide all the financial support”.
