Why appointments of 43 Judicial Service Staff were terminated with 16 dismissed

Sixteen staff members of the Judicial Service have been dismissed for offences including misappropriation and embezzlement of funds, forgery of documents, and unauthorized absence from duty.

In addition, 43 appointments were terminated, while eight staff members were demoted for various acts of misconduct such as fighting and consuming alcohol at the workplace.

These revelations are contained in the 2022/2023 Annual Report of the Judicial Service of Ghana, released to the media in 2025.

The report also indicates that within the same period, 526 appointments were terminated, while 450 employees received promotions or upgrades.

Scope of the Report

The Annual Report covers the period from October 2022 to July 2023 for the Superior Courts of Judicature, and October 2022 to September 2023 for the Lower Courts. It details the management and use of funds received by the Judicial Service for the administration of justice in Ghana.

It highlights the activities undertaken during the legal year by both the Judiciary and the Judicial Service, including notable achievements, disciplinary actions, challenges encountered, and lessons learnt.

According to the report, these insights will inform future strategies and reforms aimed at improving justice delivery across the country.

The report reflects contributions from various departments and units of the Judicial Service, offering a comprehensive overview of the institution’s operational progress and accountability efforts.
