My deepest appreciation goes to all and
sundry who in diverse ways contributed to the creation of Bono East Region. We
are proud winners!!!!!!.

Initially, I thought we will respectfully leave the selection of the Regional Capital to His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to decide.

However, surprisingly, some people have started putting in some analysis here and there in order to win favour from the President for the siting of the capital.

In view of this, l also deem it fit as a
politician and also a stakeholder in the ruling party to express my opinion on
the issue.

There is a school of thought that,
distance has a role to play in the selection; another school of thought says, centrality
of the capital to the other towns is a point to consider.

As much as I agree to the points above, I also strongly agree that any good politician or political researcher will not listen to any of such points because in politics all those points are WEAK ones.

A first year Free SHS Government student is
aware that, in politics it is the numbers that count.

Now, let’s look at what percentages the
contentious towns contributed to the YES votes in the just-ended referendum.

This is limited to YES votes:

1.Techiman South and North  – 140,719
  =31.37%

2. Nkoranza South & North –  84,877=18.92%

3. Kintampo South & North – 77,724
= 17.73%

4. Pru East & West – 52,144 = 10.67%

5. Atebubu Amanten – 46,668 = 10.40%

6. Sene East & West – 40,594
= 9.05%

With the above analysis, I think any
politician or government will consider where to site the Regional capital
because in politics numbers are the KEY ingredient in any election.

Again, I think we all know the difference
between 31% and 10% in any election.

I hope Hon. Dan Botwe, the General, will
read this.

Hon Martin Korsah will do same, likewise many
more NPP researchers and political scientists.

  1. If we are using population alone for the selection of the Bono East regional capital, we should be fair and factual. Techiman South and North is the only districts within Techiman Traditional Council but Nkoranza Traditional Council is having Kintampo North and South so if you add that population to Nkoranza North and South (Total traditional area population) , Nkoranza Traditional Council stand tall. All the land in Kintampo North and South, Nkoranza North and South belongs to Nkoranza paramouncy ( Nananom of Nkoranza) Stakeholders of Nkoranza Traditional should come together and fight for what they deserve. Nkoranza township is also in the middle of Bono East. Don’t forget Ahafo Region is having 6 districts only meaning if Nkoranza Traditional Council get additional 2 districts, they qualify for a Region. Again out of the total 8 districts/municipalities that make up Bono East, Nkoranza contributed 4.
#Nkoranza as Bono East capital is a must.

  2. Comment: Lack of development and long distance from district capitals to regional capital is the main reason we proposed and voted yes for Bono East Region. TECHIMAN Town is out Technically because it is the farthest town from Yegi, kajegi, kwame Danso, pru, Abasi and Kintampo as a District capitals. Nkoranza or Atebubu should be the preferred capital for Bono East Region. Techiman is outskirts town comfirm it from Bono East Map. Nkoranza PARAMOUNCY consist of Nkoranza north and south, Kintampo south and north.

  3. This analysis put out there is just hollow. Must everything belonging to Bono go to Techiman? It is obvious and clear that in terms of centrality of the regional capital, Nkoranza stands tall, in terms of land size, Nkoranza land is five times bigger than Techiman. If the capital goes to Techiman, it as worst as it used to be in Sunyani. We all suffered to bring this government to power as a region, but when it comes to benefits, Techiman wants to claim everything why?
You have two deputy ministers we have one, we never complained, what at all do you need again.
The time to claim what is rightfully ours is now. Rise up Nkoranza! The president must hear.
    NKZ for ever.

  4. This analysis put out there is just hollow. In terms of centrality of the regional capital, Nkoranza stands tall, in terms of land size, Nkoranza land size is about five times bigger than Techiman.Nkoranza traditional council controls four out of the ten traditional leaderships that make up the region.
Siting the regional capital at Techiman is as worst as it used to be in the past (Sunyani). It won’t benefit both Sene and Pru districts. Must everything good go to Techiman at all cost. We all suffered to bring this government to power.
Nkoranza deserves what is rightfully ours.
    The President must hear.

  5. Talking about centrality and number of constituencies, one needs to also consider how much it will cost Ghana as a country to develop a particular area technically to meet Regional standard.
The government will have additional responsibilty to ensure the existence of High standard financial institutions, big hospitals and clinics, good road network, high profile hotels/motels and guest houses, mobile network, and many other relevant facilities.
It is quite obvious that Techiman, both north and south are not lack in any of these facilities, so I do strongly wish that the President makes it a matter of simplicity to name Techiman as the Bono-east Regional capital because in terms of population and facilities, Techiman stands very tall among all.

  6. Talking about centrality and number of constituencies, one needs to also consider how much it will cost Ghana as a country to start to develop a particular area in a rush to reach regional standard.
The president shall incur additional responsibility to hasten to put down many infrastructural facilities such as High profile hospitals, High standard financial institutions, good road network, market, high educational institutions, mobile network, and many other relevant facilities to upgrade the chosen area.
Luckily, Tehiman, both Noth and South are not lack in any of these facilities, so I do believe it is well deserving that the President names Techiman as the capital of Bono-East Region because in terms of population and infrastracture, Techiman tall among all.
