Asante Kotoko head coach Eric Tinkler has challenged his players and supporters to turn the Baba Yara Stadium into a fortress during the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.

The Porcupine Warriors secured their first victory of the campaign by beating Heart of Lions, ending their winless start to the season.

Tinkler believes establishing a strong home record will be crucial to Kotoko’s ambitions and wants visiting teams to feel the pressure from the moment they arrive in Kumasi.

“We need to make our stadium a fortress, and we need to make it very difficult for teams to come here, and the fans play a big part in that,” the South African said after the victory.

Tinkler believes Kotoko’s passionate support can help create an intimidating atmosphere and give the home side a significant advantage.

“Teams should fear to come here because of the support base that we have and, with them, we can obviously change that history,” he added.

The former Orlando Pirates coach has called on the supporters to play their part by creating an atmosphere that makes the Baba Yara Stadium one of the most difficult venues in the league.

Kotoko will, however, have to wait for their next home fixture to begin that campaign.

The Kumasi-based club travel to the Nsenkyire Sports Arena on Sunday to face FC Samartex in their Matchday 3 fixture.
