Jamil Maraby has been officially introduced as President of the Marketing Committee of WAFU Zone B at a ceremony held on Saturday at the organisation’s headquarters in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
The unveiling signals a key development in the restructuring and strengthening of governance within the sub-regional football body, following the formation of its specialised committees aimed at improving operational efficiency.
Maraby’s appointment, first approved in December 2025, was confirmed during the 18th Ordinary General Assembly of WAFU Zone B in Rabat, Morocco. The decision forms part of broader efforts to boost the commercial appeal and visibility of football activities across the zone.
The Marketing Committee is the first of its kind within WAFU Zone B and is expected to play a central role in driving the promotion, branding, and commercial value of the organisation’s competitions and programmes.
In his new role, Maraby will collaborate with Abdoulaye Diabaté of Côte d’Ivoire and Tiendrebeogo Jérôme of Burkina Faso, who serve as committee members. The team will focus on developing marketing strategies, attracting sponsorships, and securing commercial partnerships to support WAFU Zone B initiatives.
Maraby is widely regarded as one of West Africa’s leading sports marketing figures. He currently serves as Director of Marketing at the Ghana Football Association, where he has been instrumental in securing key sponsorship and partnership deals.
His appointment is expected to enhance the commercial outlook of WAFU Zone B and open new avenues for revenue generation and brand development across the sub-region.
