A 40-footer container truck with registration number AS 4258 N has fallen on the Kwame Nkrumah Circle Interchange in Accra from the Ring Road Central towards the Kaneshie Industrial Area stretch.

Eyewitnesses say there was heavy traffic on that stretch of the interchange at the time of the accident.

The cause of the incident, which occurred around 3 pm on Friday, is still not known and no casualties have been recorded.

The driver of the truck is believed to have abandoned the truck and could not be found at the scene.

Joy News’ Latif Idrissu who was at the scene reported that personnel from the Road Safety Commission; Fire service and the National Disaster Management Organization have been to the scene to restore calm.

He said the police called some numbers on the truck and have been able to reach some people who have claimed ownership of it and were on their way to the scene.

Attempts to tow the truck using two cars failed hence the owners have been asked to bring their own towing vehicles.

Parts of the container were also reported damaged.
