Confirming the arrest to Joy News, the Regional Police Command Chief Superintendent, Ohene Boadi Bossman disclosed the arrest was made around 2:00 am on Monday after a police patrol team laid ambush following a tip-off.

“We received news of some people transporting cannabis to Techiman on Saturday for sales and distribution but they did not come as we heard; rather, they came on Monday dawn instead,” he explained.

“We laid ambush on the highway and around 2:00 am, saw a Hyundai vehicle with the registration number GC 292-11 approaching which we stopped and upon a thorough search, we discovered 294 slaps of wrapped weeds in the car but the driver absconded,” he added.

The police have mounted a search for the driver who is currently on the run with the suspects set to be arraigned before court on Thursday.

“We are hopeful we are going to get the driver but if we don’t, we are going to publish his photo because Techiman is now a regional capital and the earlier we started to combat crime here, the better.”
