Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has backed the decision by the immediate past Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection Otiko Afisa Djaba to resign from active politics.

According to him, it is her prerogative to decide when to quit.

“It her prerogative. She has every right to decide when to be in politics and when to get out” he stated.

The former Gender Minister has declined the president’s offer to serve as Ghana’s Ambassador to Italy.

The 56-year-old has further announced she is retiring from active politics.

The Akufo-Addo loyalist said she has informed the President of both decisions and expects to “relax and enjoy my family”.

Reacting to her decision in an interview on Joy News Tuesday, the Assin Central MP said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will miss her.

He indicated that, as the former National Womens Organizer, Madam Otiko Djaba worked very hard to ensure their victory inthe 2020 elections.

Ken Agyapong wished her well and urged other politicians to take a cue from Otiko’s action.
