The New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate for Awutu Senya West in the Central region has defended his challenge to his contender, Hanna Tetteh to also campaign with her husband.

According to George Nenyi Andah, his “harmless” comment was in response to allegations by Madam Tetteh’s campaign team that. he [Andah] was irresponsible.

On Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Friday, George Andah claimed members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) are embarking on an image denting campaign in every nook and cranny ahead of the December 7 polls.

“The NDC members including Hanna Tetteh are telling people Im irresponsible because I was sacked from all the companies I worked with but I just asked a harmless question and they want me to apologise?”.

The NPP candidate has comes under a barrage of attacks after he challenged the incumbent Member of Parliament, Hanna Tetteh to show her husband to her constituents.

“I came here with my wife, and children. Please tell Hannah to also come and show us her husband,” he told cheering crowd at a mini rally at Bawjiase in the Central region.

Many have called on him to apologize for the comment deemed sexist and an insult to single women in politics.

But George Andah on Ekosii Sen maintained that, he has not erred but only responded to the NDC  in equal measure.

“Why should I sit down and allow people to think that what you are saying about me is true. Why should I apologize for my comment, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with what I said. I was responding in a certain context…because they are doing certain things. When they claim I’m irresponsible, I’m telling them that I have a wife and I presented her before the constituents, it is simply that” he explained.

The NPP Awutu Senya West candidate is convinced people misunderstood his statement.

“If I bring Nana Addo to Bawjiase and I ask you to bring John Mahama to Bawjiase would that be something you should say I should apologize for?” he quizzed.

This notwithstanding, George Andah pledged to campaign on the issues for a resounding victory in the December polls.
