The new sensation on the local boxing front,  Bastie Samir has stated emphatically that he does not  depend on ‘juju’ (black magic) to fight.
According to him, hard work and determination played a huge role in his victory over Brimah Kamoko popularly known as Bukom Banku, whom until the 22nd of October, 2017 had an undefeated record  of 28-0-0.
Samir’s rebuttal follows claim by  some fans of Bukom Banku  after the much-anticipated fight dubbed ”Make or Break”.
They believe their champion lost because Bastie cast an evil spell on him.
But in a rebuttal, the latest cruiser weight champion on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports show said the claims are borne out of ignorance
“There is no black magic in boxing , I don’t believe in  juju. I worked very hard towards this bout and my trainer also helped me a lot” he stated.
The winning formula against Bukom Banku, Bastie Samir noted was positive thinking and believing in himself.
“I was positive of defeating Bukom Banku because I have international exposure  and on the day ,my hard work paid off. Banku is good, I won’t take that away from him but in boxing we have levels” he added.
Bastie has an impressive record of knocking out all his opponents in his 15 bouts.
He won the African Amateur Championships in the welterweight division in May 2007 and represented Ghana and won silver at the 2007 All-Africa Games boxing welterweight division
