Head of Political Science Department at the UG, Dr. Bossman Asare has said that a University of Ghana Political Science Department survey that revealed about 52.7 percent of the people will vote to maintain the president after one year in office is a true reflection of the country.
According to him, the research was not based solely on political stands and therefore should not been as one sided survey.
“I see this survey as the true reflection of the Ghanaians and the country. And it’s not based on political stand so it should not been as such” he said on Adom FM’s Morning Show “Dwaso Nsem” Thursday.
The survey was conducted by Political Scientists at the same Department and states that out of some 5000 respondents interviewed in 250 electoral areas across the country, a total of 52.7% of Ghanaians said they will vote for the Akufo-Addo led government.
A paltry 33.1% of Ghanaians said they would vote for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), according to the study.
The survey also showed a 62% approval rating for the current NPP administration which has been heavily criticised in its first year by the biggest opposition party.
But Dr Bossman Asare disclosed that 5000 respondents were sampled in ten regions.
He further said 250 electoral areas were selected with 18 NDC dominated constituencies and 14 NDC.
He explained that some of the respondents voted for the NPP due to the introduction of some critical social policies like Free SHS and the restoration of trainee allowance.
