
The Ghana Police Service has arrested two individuals in connection with a viral TikTok video in which a woman allegedly threatened to kill President John Mahama before the end of 2025 and behead First Lady Lordina Mahama.
In a statement released on Tuesday, August 12, police identified the suspects as Prince Ofori and Yayra Abiwu, confirming that they are in custody and assisting with investigations.
According to the Police, the video, widely circulated on social media, contains explicit threats delivered in the Twi language. Authorities are continuing efforts to trace and arrest other individuals believed to be linked to the recording.
The incident has raised public concern over the use of social media platforms to incite violence and make threats against high-profile figures.
The police have urged the public to remain calm and allow the investigation to proceed without interference, assuring that all necessary steps will be taken to ensure the safety of the president, his family, and the general public.
Findings from the ongoing probe are expected to be disclosed in the coming days.
