Many Togolese particularly those opposed to the government of President Faure Gnassingbe are not backing down on their demands for the Constitution to be amended to prevent his family’s continued stay in power.
The opposition has indicated it will embark on another major demonstration Friday following similar ones over the weekend that reportedly claimed seven lives.

He indicated that, civil society actors in neighbouring Togo are demanding the release of some opposition members arrested following demonstrations in that country over the weekend that reportedly claimed seven lives.

Security personnel clashed with hundreds of citizens there demonstrating against the incumbent Faure Gnassingbe, and protesting his family’s continued stay in power.
