Tiffany Haddish will not face additional jail time after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor alcohol-related driving charge stemming from her 2022 arrest in Georgia.
The comedian and actress entered the plea by video on Tuesday, Aug. 11, according to the Associated Press. As part of the sentence, Haddish was placed on 12 months of probation and ordered to avoid drugs and alcohol and complete a substance abuse evaluation, the outlet reported.
Haddish was also credited for the brief period she spent in jail following her arrest, while the other charges were dropped, according to the AP.
Haddish was arrested by Peachtree City police in January 2022 after officers received a 911 call about a driver who had reportedly fallen asleep behind the wheel at a traffic light, authorities previously told PEOPLE.
Police said officers responding to the call found a vehicle matching the description on Highway 74 and conducted a traffic stop.
“Subsequent investigation led to Ms. Tiffany Haddish being arrested for Driving Under the Influence,” police told PEOPLE at the time. “She was transported to the Fayette County Jail without incident.”
Haddish posted bond and was released from jail hours after her arrest, TMZ previously reported.
In November 2023, Haddish was arrested in Beverly Hills, Calif., on suspicion of driving under the influence. She reached a plea deal with prosecutors in February 2024 and pleaded no contest to a vehicle code violation. Two misdemeanor DUI charges were dropped as part of the deal.
The comedian rose to widespread recognition following her breakout role in the 2017 comedy Girls Trip, and that same year became the first Black female stand-up comedian to host Saturday Night Live.
Haddish won an Emmy Award in 2018 for outstanding guest actress in a comedy series. She later won her first Grammy for her stand-up special Black Mitzvah, becoming the second Black woman to win the award for best comedy album, after Whoopi Goldberg.
