One person has died, and several others are in critical condition following a road crash involving three vehicles at Kusa Junction on the Fomena–Adansi Asokwa road in the Ashanti Region.

The accident involved a tipper truck, a Toyota Hiace bus and a Volkswagen vehicle.

The injured victims have been rushed to the Adansi Fomena District Hospital, where they are receiving emergency medical attention. The deceased has been confirmed by the police.

Speaking to Adom News correspondent, Isaac K. Normanyo, Fomena District Police Commander, DSP Samson Wunyi Mumuni, confirmed the incident.

He said the police received a distress call from eyewitnesses and residents shortly after the crash and proceeded to the scene to assist with the situation.

DSP Mumuni explained that efforts to remove the damaged vehicles from the road were complicated when the towing truck brought in to clear the scene was also involved in an accident.

The development further obstructed the road, resulting in traffic being held up for more than six hours.

A second towing vehicle was eventually brought in to assist with clearing the wreckage and restore the free flow of traffic.

Residents and eyewitnesses described the Kusa Junction area as an accident-prone section of the road and called for urgent safety measures.

They attributed the frequent risks at the location partly to a sharp curve and the narrow nature of the road.

They appealed to the relevant authorities to urgently address the dangers at the junction to prevent further accidents and loss of life.
