Black Stars: Donate bonus to charity as sign of remorse- Nana Aba https://www.adomonline.com/black-stars-donate-bonus-to-charity-as-sign-of-remorse-nana-aba/ Tue, 09 Jul 2019 11:47:28 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1682670 A sports enthusiast has expressed consternation at the performance of the Black Stars, which saw their early exit from the ongoing 2019 African Cup of Nations.

An obviously hurt Nana Aba Anamoah told Joy FM’s Super Morning Show it will take more than crying for the players to appease Ghanaians who have been forced into mourning by their performance.

“Are the players not offering any form of apology for the energy invested in them”? she asked. And called on them to “donate half of their bonuses to charity to show that they are sorry.”

“They should do more than crying,” she added. She told Daniel Dadzie, host of the Super Morning Show Tuesday, most of these players “did not look interested.”

The sobbing of some of the players after the defeat did not convince Nana Aba Anamoah they are remorseful.

According to her, the players were crying because of their personal loss.

“Why were the players crying? It was because they are not progressing to the next stage of the competition, they are going to be denied bonuses and may not get contracts from scouts.”

Rating the individual performances of the players, she said, “I was expecting more from Asamoah Gyan. But I don’t blame him. Someone was supposed to supply him the balls. Yesterday apart from Nuhu Adams and Mubarak Wakaso, all the other players were very average.”

Where have we come from?

Ghana’s hope of winning the  2019 African Cup of Nations, after 37 successive previous failed attempts, was dashed last night at the Ismailia Stadium in Egypt.

This was not unexpected. The team struggled in their previous games and were thankful to have been rewarded by an own goal from the Tunisians a minute to the end of the game.

Luck eluded them during the penalty shootout which saw them losing 4: 5 to their Tunisian counterparts.

Many Ghanaians believe the team went into the tournament relying on luck than adequate preparation. Activist, Kinna Likimani shared this view.

According to her, it takes more than nationalist sentiments to win such a competitive tournament.

“I do not understand why we do the same things and expect different results. Why do you think Ghana is going to win? I have not seen anything. Performance is not just muscle moving,” she said on Joy FM’s Super Morning days to the tournament.

“What have we done to ensure that they get the work done?  We have not treated ourselves as if we deserve it,” Likimani added.

The senior national team has been grappling with management issues since Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ investigative work which unmasked corruption in Ghana’s football.

The team is currently being managed by a three-man normalization committee put in place by FIFA. This was after the Ghana Football Association was dissolved and its president banned from football-related activities.

The ad-hoc committee is to temporarily manage the team until there can be a properly constituted Ghana football association.

What is the future of the coach?

Nana  Aba Anamoah says that it is time for Kwasi Appiah to step aside.

The coach, she said, has done well thus far but it time for him to go.

“Drop that coach. No drop him,” she said on the Morning show.

Nana Aba Anamoah, like many other Ghanaians on social media, has blamed Ghana’s early exit from the tournament on the coach.

“We had coaching deficiencies,” she lamented, “why do you take off Dede  Ayew and keep Owusu.” She questioned the tactical decision of Kwasi Appiah which saw the black stars losing after a penalty shootout to the Tunisian National Team.

She said the captaincy drama which the coach inflicted on the team was unnecessary.

“What was the impact of removing Asamoah Gyan from the captaincy? What did we achieve? It was unnecessary. All of that was unnecessary.  It was a distraction.”

Sports Journalist and private legal practitioner, Eva Okyere, said while there may technical and tactical deficiencies, “We took a very average Black Stars team to the tournament.”

She said she had seen better Black Stars teams in the past, this not one of them.

Eva Okyere would discount the impact of the poor refereeing decision which saw a Dede Ayew goal disallowed.

She said if at all that goal was to be disallowed, it ought to have been for an offence other than the handball the South African referee cited.

She called on religious bodies, the security and organisations working to promote children’s welfare to collaborate efforts to build and strengthen child protection systems at different levels, in different contexts.

Mrs Osei was speaking on Joy FM’s flagship programme, Super Morning Show, as she host the show to mark this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD).
Listen to Mrs Osei

Mrs Osei’s comments follow sexual harassment claims leveled against some teachers at the Ejisuman Senior High School (SHS) in the Ashanti Region.
At least 10 female students have appeared before an Investigative Committee set up by the Ghana Education Service over reported cases of sexual relations between students and teachers at the school.
One of the students recounted how her teacher forced her to stroke his penis to ejaculate after she declined the threat to insert it into her mouth.

The revelation has gotten many parents angry and calling for severe punishment for the teachers who are found culpable.
But GNAT has cast doubt on the credibility of the stories given by the students and have blamed some faceless people for allegations.
The teachers’ body suggested their independent probe into the matter contradicts the stories told by the students.
But the EC chair believes victims of sexual abused needs to be protected.
She said some action should be taken to make sure that these victims do not get in touch with these teachers on a daily basis.

“Victims of sexual abuse needs to be protected and I think it will help. Some action needs to be taken to make sure that these victims do not get in touch with these teachers on a daily basis. Believe me, these teachers are supporting each other and so preventing these victims from seeing them more often will also help. We need to reach out to these abuse young girls” she said.
Charlotte Osei asked religious bodies in the country, as well as organizations who matter, to use their positions to protect young girls who are abused sexually, both in schools and homes.
She said religious and faith leaders often hold positions of great respect, trust and confidence in our society.
She noted that there was the need for more awareness and discussion on sexual and gender violence, especially in the Senior High Schools.
On her part, Broadcast Journalist Nana Aba Anamoah, indicated that older women should be encouraged to mentor young girls so that young girls can reach out to them for counseling.

Most of my ex-boyfriends were intimidating – Nana Aba Anamoah https://www.adomonline.com/ex-boyfriends-intimidating-nana-aba-anamoah/ Thu, 18 May 2017 13:55:25 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=125681 TV presenter, Nana Aba Anamoah has said most of the men she dated were threatened about her personality and wanted her to swap her media career for a different job.

According to her, most of her former boyfriends were not comfortable due to her prominence in the media.

The GHOne News editor told KSM, that nonetheless, other young men she has been in relationship with, never bothered but they urged her on with the career.

She recounted how a man she once dated did not want her to be on TV told her to quit his job because she is getting calls from all sorts of men and could not stand the fact that she handled a political programme thought she was a ‘controlled freak’.

“I think a lot of my…. when I say a lot it seems I have dated thousands of men. I think most of my ex-boyfriends were quite intimidating but there were some who really couldn’t be bothered, they encouraged me on,” Nana Aba Anamoah told KSM.
Asked if she is a ‘controlled freak’, Nana Aba said, “I’m not actually… I cry easily but on TV I’m a completely different person though I’m very strong but very emotional.”

Answering a question posed to her on what makes her cry, she said, “If you touch my son, I’ll cry because he is my all and life.”

VIDEO: ‘Wedding ring doesn’t make you a complete woman – Nana Aba Anamoah https://www.adomonline.com/video-wedding-ring-doesnt-make-complete-woman-nana-aba-anamoah/ Tue, 16 May 2017 18:40:56 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=122291 Controversial Ghanaian journalist and television host, Nana Aba Anamoah said a lot of Ghanaian women marry under pressure hence putting on a wedding ring doesn’t make one as a complete woman.

According to her she doesn’t know why the ordinary Ghanaian would think settling down with a man and having family responsibilities renders one a complete woman.

She added that she has a seventeen year old son and a good career which sets her on a good course in life hence she doesn’t need a man to make her life any better presently.

Nana Aba further posited that until men and women in Ghana realize a lot of people are getting married and breaking up quickly due to marriage pressure from friends and family, there is no way pressure in marriage can be toned down in the country.

“That is so archaic and stupid. I wonder why you’re only ticked complete when you’re married. So the hard work, waking up at dawn doing research, toiling, sweating, you mean that doesn’t count…?”

“That is why a lot of people are married and the divorce rate is so high, and until we get men not to speak the same way like some men speak and women who feel they are married so everyone woman should be married. Then it means I am on TV and every lady should be. There is pressure on them to settle down…”

Earlier one maverick counselor, Rev George Lutterodt, is reported to have stated categorically that she cannot marry indicating that she has reached a stage he called “Mafa No Saa (MFS)” and need to be satisfied with where they are and not venture into marriage.

When host KSM asked her about Counselor Lutterodt’s brouhaha concerning her marriage life, she said she doesn’t have time to descend into the same gutters with him since he believes he is better than everyone.

“I don’t want to descend into the same gutter with people who think they know others better than themselves. I don’t have time…” she said on the KSM show.

“Family, friends and strangers’ ask me when I am getting married. I feel fulfilled. I have a job; I love what I am doing. Sometimes I run out of descriptions…” she added.

Everything Shatta touches turns to gold – Nana Aba Anamoah https://www.adomonline.com/everything-shatta-touches-turns-gold-nana-aba-anamoah/ Tue, 16 May 2017 06:38:38 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=120781 Media personality Nana Aba Anamoah has endorsed Dancehall Artiste, Shatta Wale, saying everything the artiste touches turns to gold. “I love Shatta Wale not because of the controversy but despite controversy and despite the negative title, Shatta Wale is rising above them.

He is riding in the clouds. That is what I love about him.” “Everything he touches turns to gold. Have you heard of the story of Midas touch? That is why I adore Shatta Wale.

I think he works hard and doesn’t pay attention to the negative body and he is rising above all of them” Nana Aba said in an interview with GhOne TV.

Nana Aba also slammed Charter House for constantly sidelining Shatta Wale in its nomination, saying “I am completely disappointed that you have an organization awarding musicians and because of such pettiness, Shatta Wale is not nominated. I want to bring that word ‘travesty of justice’.

“Shatta Wale is a musician and he loves controversy, he thrives on controversy but that is him, take it or leave it. I really don’t see the fuss about him being abandoned or neglected or boycotted by Charter House.

I believe Charter House must get over it. It is about time they rose above it. It is really unnecessary”. Shatta Wale in 2015 engaged in a heated argument with Charter House after he accused them of cheating musicians in the country.

The company was offended by the comments and sued him for defamation. The Dancehall artiste was subsequently declared unfit to be nominated for Ghana Music Awards in 2016 following the development.
