Ghanaian dancehall artiste Stonebwoy has paid tribute to the late Overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Naa Abukari II, describing him as a unifying leader whose legacy will endure.
In a post on X following the announcement of the King’s passing, the award-winning musician expressed sadness over the loss and extended his condolences to the people of Dagbon.

“I mourn the passing of Ya-Naa Abukari II, Overlord of Dagbon. His loss is felt across Dagbon and all of Ghana.”
Stonebwoy praised the late monarch for his leadership during a difficult period in Dagbon’s history.
“He was a leader of peace and vision. At Dagbon’s most fragile moment, he restored unity, healed divisions, and gave the Kingdom new hope and stability.”
The musician also reflected on the honour bestowed on him by the Kingdom, saying he would always cherish the warmth and recognition he received from the people of Dagbon.
“I will never forget the love Dagbon showed me, welcoming me as family and honouring me with the title Dancehall Sapashini – The Warrior. For that, I am forever grateful.”
Stonebwoy concluded his message by extending his sympathies to the traditional leadership and the people of Dagbon.
“My condolences to the Chiefs, the royal family, and the people of Dagbon. God grant you strength during this difficult time. Rest well, Ya-Naa. #Dagbon”
