Special operations support team deployed to Nkwanta following attacks

The Inspector-General of Police has deployed a Special Operations Support Team to Nkwanta in the Oti Region after recent attacks left some people dead and several others injured in the municipality.

According to a press release issued by the Oti Regional Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service on June 20, 2026, the team was dispatched from the National Police Headquarters in Accra to reinforce existing security arrangements and restore calm in the Nkwanta South Municipality.

The Police urged residents to remain calm, cooperate with security personnel, and provide credible information to assist ongoing investigations into the attacks.

“The Ghana Police Service remains committed to protecting lives and property and ensuring peace within the municipality,” the statement said.
